Polished Black Closed Corner Frame
This is our polished black frame closed corner frame. Closed corner frames are milled wood, joined into a frame and then the finish is applied. The result is a frame in which the mitre joints in the corner are not noticeable. To achieve this black polished finish we apply 10 coats of gilder’s gesso to the wood and then sand it to a porcelain smooth surface. Next, two coats of black clay are brushed on and polished with steel wool. A black Aniline dye is then applied to the frame and once dry microcrystalline wax is applied and buffed.
