Quarter Sawn Oak Mission Style Frame

A client came to me with this Alex Colville print and her description of her house, mentioning that the architectural style was Mission Period. I suggested that we make a solid ¼ sawn oak frame and stain it the same colour as the woodwork in the house. Uninterested in making an historic Mission style frame, I modernised the design by adding the square caps embedded into the mitred corners. The structure in the frame seems to support the structure in Colville’s print and we were very lucky that the stain colour supplied by the client matched the colour of the female subject almost perfectly.
